Photography Competition

1st September - 30th November

Calling all budding photographers and those who just like to take a good snap! Explore the Hunter Wetlands with your camera this Spring and enter our Wonderful Wetlands Photo Competition. Adults and Junior (under 15yrs) categories - Flora & Fauna; Macro and People/ Activities.

Take photos of nesting Ibis, shrub birds, turtles, flowering natives, bush tucker plants, canoeing, orienteering, segways, bush walking, dipnetting, insects etc.

First Prize is a Freelance Photography Package with Hunter Region School of Photography worth $1600. Over $3500 worth of prizes to be won from Hunter Region School of Photography, WEA, Chris Ryan Legal, Moonshadow Cruises, MacLeans Books and the Hunter Wetlands Centre. People's Choice award of $500 from The Herald.

Entry fee is $40 with unlimited access pass to the wetlands during the competition. Download Photo Comp Entry Form  here or see reception on arrival.

Discount printing can be done through Domayne at kotara, Please present your HWC entry card for proof when ordering prints. 

Early Opening & Late Closing- the centre will be open 20 mins before sunrise and close 20 mins after sunset. People going on to the site for these times must sign on and off  on arrival and leaving; have a map, a torch and a mobile phone. Mozzie repellant will be provided. Please call us on 4951 6466 to book your place for the early openings and late closes.

Christmas in the Wetlands 

11th December, Activities from 11am - 2pm

Celebrate the season with a family picnic at the Wetlands. Enjoy the activities on our sensory trail. Parents will love the ease of  BBQ; kids will love the fun and games, face painting and of coursea visit from Santa.
